Luxury New Baby Cards

It's a little simplistic to call these "cards"... they're more of a concertina style book backed with a gorgeous handmade lokta paper.

This little baby has a Polish mum, so we have a card in English for Mum & Dad,
& a Polish version for one set of grandparents from the other...

The silvery glints really sparkle when they catch the light.... I used Schminke aluminium powder dropped into the wet gouache. I spotted it when I was looking for the gold powder in my last post & just had to try!! The aluminium has larger flakes & is slightly brighter, I think, than the silver powder I usually use (also from Schminke).

A strip of sanwaa tissue across the back of the book, with it's gold & silver flecks,
co-ordinates nicely with the metallic shimmer of the lettering.

All tied together with silver twine!
There's a lovely blend of textures in these little books, making them a delight to hold...
can you see the laid-lines of the bamboo mould that the paper is dried on?

When open, they measure 6" x 16" / 15cm x 40.5cm. I folded these to form the concertina (or accordion) effect, but they could just as easily be rolled to form a scroll!

Thanks "G" from GN Jewellery for her time in translating for me!

Live, Love, Laugh, & doing it to death!

A request... those hearts you do.... maybe long & narrow-ish.... to go above the bed... whatever you think...

Any words on?.... no...umm, maybe.... if you like... you choose...

So I asked for the paint used on the walls & decided a 120cm x 40cm canvas... and of course, I couldn't resist adding a few words, so suggested these... turned out quite well don't you think?!

And then, later, checking through photographs, thought I'd try a few prints....

... on A4 canvas, both with the "love" and without...

...and then removing colour... I LOVE the charcoal grey...

... and then wondered what canvas for inkjet would be like to write on...
it works a treat!
What a convenient way for folk to have personalised calligraphy
for weddings, engagements or anniversaries!

Various combinations of print size and colour options have found their way to my shop suziscribbles on etsy. I've done some 'live, love, laugh' fridge magnets which are still to list & am thinking about cards... only thinking at the moment tho, lol!

Talk about "having an idea & doing it to death"!! Sometimes it's quite fun just working through all the possibilities for one thing, rather than trying to conjure up 'new' ideas all the time... mind you i don't really have problems with new ideas, it's finishing off (or even starting) the ones i already have that needs some working on!

Calligraphy Christening Gift

Angels surround you every day.... may they love & protect you in every way.

Babies are little bits of stardust sprinkled from heaven.

This 8x10inch canvas was a christening gift, with the baby's name & christening date written subtly at the bottom. It is an idea that can be repeated, but no two will ever be the same, making a truly unique present. Colours & words can be adapted to suit the recipient... a feature can be made of the name... it doesn't have to have the heart on... you get the idea... you can have whatever you like.

A canvas similar to this would be £20.

Angels Mantragrams

Angels watch over you every day, may they guide & inspire you in every way...

Angels surround you every day, may they love & protect you in every way...

Perfect gifts for anyone at any time... to celebrate a birthday or christening, to offer support & encouragement to a friend in need.... just to show you care with words that mean something....

Swarovski crystals hang from the bottom
